Window air conditioner are best solution

They are lightweight and easy to carry up and down the stairs

I live in the northeastern part of the country, where cold and wet conditions last for the majority of the weather. I expect to start up the furnace sometime in October and rely on it steadily until the end of April or even May. Temperatures down to negative twenty-five aren’t unusual. The winters are long and brutal, with wind chills that are downright dangerous. I am always anxious for the warmer weather to show up. I continually check the forecast and watch for robins and the first sprouts to daffodils and tulips. I look forward to the opportunity to shut down the furnace and open the windows. It’s such a relief to be able to breathe fresh air. I have no interest in closing the windows and running a central air conditioner. Since our summers are extremely short, investing into a whole-home cooling system seems pointless. However, my local area does experience temperatures into the upper eighties or even the nineties with a great deal of humidity. It can be just about impossible to relax or get a good night’s sleep. The quick, easy and affordable solution is a window air conditioner for each bedroom. I was able to find the cooling units at the local home improvement store for a reasonable price. Installation took me less than ten minutes. I store the AC units in the attic over the winter. They are lightweight and easy to carry up and down the stairs. Despite the compact size, the air conditioners are plenty powerful to handle the square footage. Each one features a cordless remote that allows adjustment of temperature, customization of airflow direction and fan speed without even getting out of bed.
